Annual Softball Game
   vs.
LACYD                           SFVYD
Sunday, July 8
Van Nuys / Sherman Oaks Park

For the last six years, the Los Angeles County Young Democrats have played our neighbors to the north, the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats, in a friendly (but usually competitive) game of softball.  This year, the annual softball game will also serve as the kickoff event for the Summer LACYD Voter Registration Drive!

Please join us for a fun day.  Softball-players and spectators are all welcome!

In addition to hosting a family-friendly picnic and softball game, where you will be able to meet your fellow young Democrats (as well as a variety of elected officials and candidates), we will be handing out voter registration cards to all LACYD members in attendance.  After going out into their neighborhoods to register new voters, LACYD members will be able to return completed cards for a free ticket to LACYD’s night at the ballpark in mid-July (information about the game will be available soon).

Please send any questions about the game or Voter Registration Drive to LACYD President David Graham-Caso at d.grahamcaso@lacyd.org.

Thank you! We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, July 8!

Poll: Young Voters Look to
Los Angeles County Young Democrats

From May 14 – 16, the renowned public research firm, Public Policy Polling, conducted a survey of 500 likely voters in Los Angeles to test opinion of the largest Young Democratic Club in the state of California, and to help predict the results of upcoming municipal races in Los Angeles.

Find out who is leading the race to be the next Mayor of Los Angeles, what issues young people care about most and what voters think about marriage equality.

Read the press release, executive summary and complete crosstabs at the “LACYD’s 2013 Poll” webpage.

LACYD-Endorsed Candidates Triumph in June 5 Primary Elections

38 of 40 LACYD-Backed Candidates Qualify for Runoff Elections

After hosting a series of four regional endorsement meetings to issue endorsements in more than 40 Los Angeles County-area races, the membership of the Los Angeles County Young Democrats voted to back a series of excellent candidates in the June 5 Statewide Primary Election.

Voters throughout the County followed LACYD’s lead, and a staggering 95% of the candidates endorsed by LACYD qualified for the November 6 runoff.

A Message from Los Angeles County Democratic Party Chair Eric Bauman

***Social Media Action Item***

(the following message was sent to Los Angeles County Democrats on June 19)

Dear Fellow Democrat –

I’m proud of President Obama’s historic announcement ending the deportations of young undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children and providing them a method to apply for a permit to work.

Finally, these young people can stop living in the shadows and can now pursue the American Dream – a dream they grew up believing in and aspiring to achieve.

Moments like this make the countless hours we all spend working to elect Democrats in California and across our country worth it.

Will you take just a minute to share LACDP’s “Hope for All” photo on Facebook? It will show your friends and family that you support our President in this courageous and important decision.

Thank you for standing with the Democratic Party and President Obama in the fight to ensure equality and justice for all.

Eric C. Bauman
Chair, Los Angeles County Democratic Party
